TACTICS Ignites Excellence and Service at SOAR XII

The Ateneo Consortium of Technological, Information, and Computing Sciences (TACTICS) secured multiple awards at this year's Student Organizations Awards and Recognition (SOAR) XII, earning distinctions for organizational excellence, student leadership, and mentorship.
Among the organization's achievements was the Achievement Award in Skills Development, recognizing TACTICS' efforts in providing programs and opportunities that enhance the competencies of its members and the wider student community.

TACTICS President Gil Jose F. Peñaflor was named the Jesse M. Robredo Student Leader of the Year, one of the highest distinctions presented during the ceremony. The award recognizes student leaders who exemplify service-oriented leadership, dedication to the student body, and commitment to the values upheld by the university.

Meanwhile, TACTICS moderator Angelo Melecio O. Agawa received the Fr. John “Jack” J. Phelan, S.J. Moderator of the Year Award. The recognition honors moderators who have demonstrated exceptional guidance, mentorship, and support in helping student organizations achieve their goals and carry out meaningful initiatives throughout the academic year.
The recognitions mark another milestone for TACTICS, which was previously awarded Most Improved Student Organization during last year’s rites. From being recognized for its growth in the previous year to receiving major organizational and individual distinctions this year, the organization continues to build on its efforts to foster student development, leadership formation, and active engagement within and beyond the Department of Computer Science and the College of Computer Studies.
The awards were conferred during SOAR XII, the university's annual organizations awards and recognitions ceremony held on June 4, 2026 at the University Gymnasium. Organized by the Office of Student Affairs, this year's celebration carried the theme “IGNIS: A Heart Kindled for Service,” emphasizing the university’s commitment to forming leaders whose competence is matched by a deep sense of social responsibility and service.
Drawing inspiration from the Latin word ignis, meaning fire, the theme challenged student organizations to cultivate a passion for service that endures beyond individual achievements.
The recognition received by TACTICS reflects this spirit, highlighting not only the accomplishments of its officers and moderator but also the collective efforts of its members and the support of the faculty in advancing initiatives that contribute to student growth and community development.
As the organization builds on the momentum of its previous successes, the awards serve as both a recognition of past accomplishments and an affirmation of TACTICS' continuing mission to empower students through technology, leadership, and service.
